Summer, SOMa

We are excited to bring back our summer program for the second year! While some of the information is somewhat tentative, families can begin pre-registering to reserve spots and we will do our best to keep the fun and adventure rolling.

Our Summer South Mountain Reservation EDventures will include shelter building, bird tracking, woodlands hide-and-seek and survival skills -- plus an original variety of awesome outdoor games & activities!  This exhilarating outdoor program builds confidence, while encouraging teamwork, creativity and open-ended education.

The possibilities? Endless. The experiences? Memorable.
The FUN? Guaranteed!!!

We will be outdoors; please be prepared for all types of weather.

  • Enrollment will be limited, depending on staff availability, but the goal is to have the same instructor(s) for each week of the camp, as much as possible.
  • Our summer program will run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each day and the dates are, tentatively, June 27-July 1, July 5-8, July 11-15 and July 18-22. You do not have to enroll for all four weeks, but anyone who wishes to attend will need to enroll for at least one full week, at this time. We may allow daily drop-ins at some point, if we are not full.
  • Drop off will usually be at the Tulip Springs Parking Lot, just off of Cherry Lane. However, as we work out plans throughout the spring, there may be different nearby drop-off points here and there, but you will receive prior notice if that is the case. If you sign up with friends, siblings, etc., they will all be in the same group, but please note that there may not be enough demand for each of the offered weeks.
  • Our program is for boys and girls, ages 5-11. However, younger children may have a harder time with some of the social distancing requirements and all of the hiking, so please keep that in mind. All participants must be bathroom independent and we cannot accept anyone younger than 5 this summer.
  • All participants need to bring a packed lunch and water.
  • Masks are now optional while we are outdoors, but all participants will still need to bring a face covering in case it becomes necessary. We may need them for an activity with a lot of close contact, for when using public restrooms or any other scenarios that may come up.
  • We will continue to practice social distancing throughout the day as much as possible. Those who have a difficult time with this may be asked to wear a mask at certain times.
  • Washing hands is not possible where we are in the Reservation, but all instructors will have plenty of hand sanitizer on hand for whenever it is necessary.
  • The cost for one full week is $395. Please note that because July 4 falls on a Monday, Week 2 of this camp will be just 4 days and the cost is $320. The price will be discounted to $1,125 for anyone who signs up for three weeks, or to $1,050 if it includes Week 2; all four weeks will be $1,425. If we are not full, daily drop-ins will be available as well ($90/day). We do not accept credit cards, but details for electronic payments will be included in your confirmation e-mail. Those who wish to pay by check, please make them payable to Mohr's Explorers, LLC.
  • This is a small program with limited enrollment and we are unable to provide any financial aid or sibling discounts.
  • Registration is currently open and will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. To pre-register, just e-mail Mike to reserve your spot on the list. Next, fill out and submit the Registration Form (link below) if you are new to the program, but please note...ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN IN THE PROGRAM THIS SCHOOL YEAR DOES NOT NEED TO FILL OUT ANOTHER FORM. A separate e-mail with payment information will be sent out later this spring, once registration is a little more settled.
